cover FOWEY: 1832 (7 Aug.) entire letter from Bherampore to Surrey, rated "1/4" and inscribed "per Abberton", the reverse with good light strike of the framed "INDIA LETTER/FOWEY" (In.1) in black, overstruck by red London arrival c.d.s.; minor ageing but fine. Also a piece (110x45 mm.) showing a similarly overstruck example of this marking but in blue-black (it is suggested that this colouring may have been the result of natural chemical action over the years but it's appearance definitely suggests a mixture of inks having been used).
