cover -- 1828 (22 July) entire letter from Cape Town to Kent, rated "3/4" and showing receiver's filing note on the address panel with superb crowned circular "POST OFFICE GENERAL/CAPE TOWN" datestamp, the reverse with superb strike of the framed "INDIA LETTER/KINGSBRIDGE" (In.1) in black; fine and extremely rare being one of only three recorded examples struck in black. The content being a very long, and most interesting letter with references to intelligence reports, troop movements and the pending arrival of a ship "which left St. Helena only two days before you".
