Lot Essay

This table (with added shell ornament) is identical to one supplied by Benjamin Goodison for Frederick, Prince of Wales for his State Apartments at Hampton Court Palace in 1732 (reproduced in R. Edrwards, The Shorter Dictionary of English Furniture, 1964, p.583., pl.22).
