Lot Essay

The career of Nicholas Skleros has been reconstructed by W. Seibt. Nicholas was vestes and judge of the Bucellaires, and later epi ton deeseon. He should not be confused with Nicholas Cheilas who took part in a conspiracy against Constantine X. Nicholas Skleros went on to become proedros and grand skeuophylax of Blacherna and later curopalatos and grand drongairios in 1084.
