This is the first evidence we have of this member of the well known family of Choirosphaktoi (see Spink Zacos I, lot 59). The theme of Charsianon, created in the second half of the ninth century, was important, since in its capital, Caesarea Cappadocia, resided the Melainoi, a group of the Cappadocian aristocracy.
