Lot Essay

The chapel of S Gregorio di Nazianzio was built by Cardinal Baroni to house the relics of Saint Gregory which were removed from the church of S Maria in the Campo Marzio. Lorenzo Fragni, called Parmense, a goldsmith and gem engraver, was employed at the Papal mint 1572-1586. He was also well known for imitating ancient coins.
