Lot Essay

A combination of the portrait dated AN VIIII with the reverse of the annual medal for anno X (1614). The column, one of eight classical columns from the Basilica di Massenzio (the former Tempio della Pace), was erected by Maderno in 1614. The statue is by Guglielmo Berthelot.
