Joseph I (1678-1711), the son of Leopold I and Eleanor of the Palatinate, was crowned king of Bohemia at Augsburg, 1690, and elected Holy Roman Emperor, 1709. He married Wilhelmina of Brunswick-Lneberg-Kalenberg in 1699 but died without an heir and was succeeded by his brother Charles VI.
Martin Brunner (1659-1726), medallist of Nuremberg, is here working in collaboration with E Frber who had the privilege of striking medals 'in his own house', hence the formulaic 'C PRIVIL CAES M above his initial F on the obverse.
