Unused on cover / entire letter 1864 (21 July) envelope (complete with contents) ex the Burckmyer correspondence from Fort Pemberton per Druid to Liverpool, rated "2/-" in blue crayon and with large "2/-" h.s. and arrival c.d.s. for 12 September on face, Bahamas double-arc d.s. for 3 August on reverse; the writer tells of an attack by Union Forces on batteries Pringle and Tynes, which was repulsed. He also describes the shelling of Fort Sumter and of Charleston. Photo
