Willy Sluiter (1873-1949)

Five sketchbooks containing black chalk drawings of amongst others Belgian townviews in Antwerp and Brussels, portraits of fellow artists such as Constantin Meunier and Ray Nyst, Dutch seascapes and fishing scenes in Scheveningen, topographical impressions of the surroundings of Namur-Dinant, caf scenes, equestrians, caricatures and invitations for example the Pictura in Dordrecht, a number signed, dated between 1890 and 1896 and inscribed with titles or notes by the artist. Three of the sketchbooks bear the artist's signature on the backing, two of them are also titled Scheveningen, Bruselle-Schevingen, and all are dated between 1890 and 1896.
