Of traditional construction -- carved diminishing tiers of floral design with an iron core now mounted on pear shaped wooden base (worn gilding and old damage)

Lot Essay

This type of ornamental carving was common on 18th Century Dutch vessels and were designed to be attached to the top of a mast. They are usually of ten diminishing tiers, an example with thirty-five is unusual and may be considered rare.
