The prototype of circa 1513, on panel, 72.5 x 71.5 cm, is in the Palazzo Pitti, Florence, inv. no.151 (M. Gregori, Uffizi e Pitti - i dipinti delle gallerie Fiorentine, 1994, p.171, fig.213). The prototype is among Raphael's most copied works.
