The acoll coats-of-arms indicate that this table was made on the occasion of a marriage. Unfortunately, only the female arms have been identified. The oval shield is carved with the arms of de Swalue, probably for one of the elder sisters of Dr. Alexander Otto de Swalue (b. 1715), who was a lawyer at the Court of Friesland in Leeuwarden during the first half of the 18th Century. De Swalue had three elder sisters, Alexandrina (b. 1696), Ida Christina (b. 1697) and Alexandrina Hester (b. 1713), whose spouses have not yet been found in the family archives.
