A Chinese famille rose 'European Subject' plate Circa 1740
Painted in the Meissen-style with a central lobbed cartouche depicting a fisherman standing behind a wooden barrel of herring recommending his catch to a couple of other men, reserved on gilt scrollwork, the rim with three cartouches containing different Dutch landscapes, one of a winter scene including skaters, one of a village on a waterfront, and one of a river scene with estuaries in the background, between iron-red and puce scrollwork (glaze crack to the base, some rubbing to the gilt)
