Saqi

Saqi was painted after Chughtai's visit to Europe where he came into contact with Pre-Raphaelite painting and Art Nouveau. Works from this period share a purer palette, a reduced emphasis on line, an interest in mass and a meticulous rendering of Islamic architectural details.
