Voluptuous female nudes appear frequently in Keyt's paintings, but his evident delight in the female form is usually tempered by a spiritual dimension. From the mid 1930's Keyt became interested in Indian religions, and Hinduism in particular, had a profound influence on the subject matter of his art. Both the erotic sculpture of ancient Indian temple sites and Hindu sacred texts such as the Gita Govinda were a source of inspiration for him throughout his life.
