Having gathered the funds to carry out a further tour of India, the Daniells headed south in March 1792. Their tour enabled them to sketch places that had not previously been recorded by travellers. Having reached the southern-most tip of the continent they returned to Madras along the east coast stopping at Gingee in October and arriving in Madras again in November.
The present drawing provides a rare view of Kischen Ghur, a hill fort that spreads over three adjacent hills. It was not worked up for one of the published aquatints.
