An album of figure drawings of characters at the court at Bhuj and the people of Kutch

Company Painting never developed on a large scale in Western India. Occasionally a European would employ an Indian artist to carry out private commissions, but this was never commonplace in the Western regions. It was not until the mid-19th century that sets of pictures depicting trades and castes were regularly produced in Western India and sold in Bombay, Poona and Belgaum.
Kutch or Cutch school developed in the region now known as Gujarat, where Bhuj is one of the main cities.
