Scenery and Reminiscences of Ceylon. London: Ackermann & Co., for the author, 1845.
2 (492 x 331mm). Tinted lithographic frontispiece and 12 tinted lithographic plates after Deschamps. (First few leaves and title-page lightly spotted, frontispiece with some discolouration and short tears to fore-edge.) Contemporary dark green half morocco, upper cover with elephant blocked in gilt (neatly rebacked retaining original backstrip, upper cover with scratch to right-hand edge, corners bumped).
An important and ambitious survey of mid-nineteenth-century Sri Lanka. Deschamps spent nine years in Sri Lanka (1828-1838) during which time he compiled the material contained in this work.
