A LATE VICTORIAN 'SHERATON REVIVAL' MAHOGANY AND MARQUETRY BUREAU-BOOKCASE
The carcass 18th Century
Crossbanded overall with tulipwood, the dentilled cornice above a pair of geometrically-glazed doors enclosing four sliding shelves, the lower section with a medallion-inlaid hinged slope enclosing a fitted interior with drawers and pigeon-holes around a central cupboard concealing further secret drawers, above four long graduated drawers, on later bracket feet

By family tradition, Thomas Sheraton (d. 1806) and by descent.
Bought by Mrs. Beamish (ne Simon) and by descent to
Tufton Beamish, Lord Chelwood, M.C. (d. 1989).
