The Egyptian frame, with Etruscan-black bolt enrichments, derives from a chimneypiece pattern in Thomas Hope's Household Furniture and Interior Decoration, 1807 (pl. VIII). The fashion was adopted by George Oakley (d. 1841) in his library furniture supplied for Papworth Hall, Cambridgeshire in 1810.
