Lot Essay

This type of delicate trailing floral decoration is reminiscent of that on a set of mid-18th Century Genoese seat furniture sold anonymously at Sotheby's London, 3 December 1997, lot 149. Related late 18th Century Italian painted funiture of Louis XVI style is illustrated in S. Levy, Il Mobile Veneziano del Settecento, Novara, 1996, Vol. I, pl. 50 and 51.
