A SET OF VENETIAN GREEN AND GILT-JAPANNED SEAT FURNITURE
19th Century
Comprising a pair of armchairs and a pair of side chairs, decorated
with floral sprays, the splats painted with figures from the Commedia dell'Arte, each with a shaped and pierced splat and bow-fronted caned seat, the armchairs with outscrolled arms, and on cabriole legs terminating in a scroll, partly redecorated, the figures on the splats later, one armchair with caning distressed, the side chairs with red-painted inventory numbers to the underside '79.329A' and '79.329B' respectively, the armchairs with inventory numbers '79.329C' and '79.329D' respectively
