The Six Voyages...through Turkey into Persia, and the East-Indies... Together with a New Relation of the Present Grand Seignor's Seraglio, by the same Author. Made English by J.P. To which is added a description of all the kingdoms which encompass the Euxine and Caspian seas. By an English traveller, never before printed. London: printed for R. L. and M. P., to be sold by John Starkey & Moses Pitt, 1678. 3 parts in one volume, 2 (32.3 x 19.3cm.) 24 engraved plates, one folding, 9 illustrations. Later diced russia (rebacked and recornered).

Tavernier spent 30 years travelling in the East as a merchant. Between 1638 and 1668 he made six voyages from Turkey to Persia, India, the East Indies and Japan, and by indicating the safe routes he did much to open up trade between East and West. Wing T-256.
