A Norwegian silver spoon, [1925?], commemorating Amundsen's aeroplane flight to 87 44' North. The handle cast with the Pole star, a portrait of Amundsen, a walrus head and the Norwegian flag, the circular bowl with a representation of two aircraft circling the North Pole (marked with a Norwegian flag) lettered around the interior rim of the bowl 'Polflyvningen/21 Mai-15 Juni 1925 87-43.2NB/Ellsworth. Feucht. Omdal. Riiser. Larsen. Dietrichson.' 13cm. long.

Amundsen set off from Spitzbergen, on 2 May 1925, with Lincoln Ellsworth and four companions in two aircraft. They were forced down onto the pack ice and one of the aircraft was irreparably damaged. After three weeks they were able to take off and returned on 15 June 1925 to great acclaim.
