A 'Swantint' half-tone metal printing block being a reversed formal half-length portrait of Scott in his Royal Navy Commander's dress uniform, [from a photograph taken circa July 1900-August 1901], 13.5 x 10.2cm., panel-pinned to hardwood mount.
Provenance: Sir Peter Markham Scott (1909-1989); by descent.
Scott was promoted to Commander on 30 June, 1900, and Captain on his return from the south, on 10 September 1904, the date that the Discovery docked at Portsmouth.
