FIRST EDITION, a presentation copy and one of "Only 100 copies of this Large-Paper Edition... printed, for private circulation". Admiral Adam Duncan (1731-1804) was appointed Commander-in-chief in the North Sea in 1795, and, in the most important action of his naval career, defeated the Dutch fleet off the coast near the village of Camperdown on 11 October 1797. For this action he was made Viscount Duncan of Camperdown on 21 October 1797.
