Belles lettres, Persian manuscript on salmon pink, pale pink, grey-blue, yellow and cream paper, 80ff. most with 10ll. of flowing black shikasteh on gold or silver sprinkled panels outlined with silver, some folios with text written on the diagonal, text margined with contrasting paper, decorated with gold and silver floral meander, opening folio with gold and polychrome illuminated heading, with five full page miniatures, probably added in the nineteenth century, final folio with colophon signed Kazim Tabrizi at Mashhad and dated 985, generally good condition, in black morocco binding with gold tooled central panel with cloudbands and decoup border surrounded by an outer border of gold tooled cartouches, decoup doublures

Lot Essay

The Safavid style miniatures are exceptionally fine copies, possibly by the Imami family.
