The Persian inscription reads "bada darash Gusha....." (May his door be open).

Two tiles from the same series, which toegether formed a complete cartouche, were sold in these Rooms, 14 October 1997, lot 386. The inscription on those tiles recorded the foundation of a mosque. Using the abjad system of dating, which was indicated by the inscription, these gave a date of AH 1024.
