Details
Chteau Mouton-Rothschild--Vintage 1955
Pauillac, 1er cru class. Chteau-bottled
Three capsules corroded. Levels: five top, six upper and one mid-shoulder
The 1955 vintage, which is unusually well represented in the owner's cellar tends to be sublimated in people's minds after the admittedly charming '53s and magnificent '59s. But it was a very good vintage and the Mouton is a superlative example. Always attractive, still showing well at a fairly recent tasting of '55s: very good fruit, crisp, fragrant. A wine of vivacity. M.B.
