An early Islamic bronze steelyard is in the David Collection (Folsach, Kjeld v. et al.: Sultan, Shah, and Great Mughal, Copenhagen, 1996, no.184, p.212).

The damage to the weight enables the lead core to be seen. How this core was inserted into the seamless cast bronze skin with its considerably higher melting point is a challenging technical problem!
