Lot Essay

Commander A.J.G. Piffard commanded R.I.M.S. Canning in both South African and Chinese waters. Just 16 Queen's South Africa Medals were awarded to the ship and Piffard's total entitlement represents 27 years service in the Royal Indian Marine.
