An "Absent-Minded Beggar" and Lily Langtry Souvenir
An extremely rare silk-covered card, folded in three sections each 12in. by 8in. (30cm. by 20cm.), the front inscribed The Absent-Minded Beggar by Rudyard Kipling and printed with a portrait of the author, the three inner pages printed with the poem in green ink on either side of the "Gentleman in Kharki", the back page inscribed 'This Souvenir is presented by Mrs. Langtry on the occasion of the 100th performance of the "Degenerates" at the Garrick Theatre. For permission to use Mr. Kipling's poem, Mrs. Langtry has made the "Daily Mail" a contribution of 100 Pounds for the benefit of the wives and children of the reservists fighting in South Africa'
