Private Gordon Frank Hall was a member of the 80-strong 1st Contingent Tasmanian Mounted Rifles, which sailed to South Africa on 28.10.1899 and landed at Cape Town on 26.11.1899. Also known as "Cameron's Contingent", after their Commanding Officer, they took part in the fighting prior to the occupation of Bloemfontein and returned to Tasmania in October 1900.
