Khaki drill khurtas were used for routine mounted duties until 1914, more colourfull gold-laced uniforms being worn for Review Order. After the Great War, khaki drill was normally worn for all mounted duties including Full Dress occasions. The conical khulla provided the foundation around which the lungi (turban) was wound on the head.
