Burger Pontus Alexius Andersson was a member of the Scandinavian Corps and one of their few survivors at the Battle of Magersfontein. His military career subsequently came to an end when he was taken prisoner at Paardeberg and sent to St. Helena. Only about 40 A.B.Os were awarded to the Scandinavian Corps.
