A finely-made waistbelt of tan suede and leather, containing 92 cartridge-pleats in two rows, divided by a massive leather partition and covering by a triple layered flap of thin leather, the outer layer showing a suede surface edged with a two-inch band of finely-tooled leather forming geometrical patterns, twin-buckle fastening and double shoulder-brace

Lot Essay

Lieutenant-Colonel The Honourable R.A. Campbell, C.B.E., acquired this bandolier as 'loot' during the Boer War. As a Captain in the Cameron Highlanders he served on the Staff, was present at Magersfontein, the operations in the Orange Free State and Transvaal, was twice Mentioned in Despatches and awarded the Brevet of Major.
