Nesbitt's Horse was raised in Cape Colony in December 1899 and commanded by Lieutenant-Colonel R.A. Nesbitt, V.C. It was extremely active during the War and fought up to the end, among its notable achievements being the capture of Commandant Malan three days before peace was declared.
