Lot Essay

The Reverend E.W. Norris served in Lord Roberts' Command from January 1900 until the entry of Pretoria. Subsequently invalided with enteric fever, he returned to South Africa to become the Senior Chaplain to the Forces at Kimberley and was recommended for an award in 1902 (War Office records refer).

Norris was originally appointed as Chaplain to the Forces in 1892 and retired in 1917.
