Lot Essay

Honorary Lieutenant and Riding Master Samuel Jarvis served in South Africa from December 1899 to July 1900 as the Sergeant Major of 'T' Battery. The Battery went with General French to Kimberley, Bloemfontein and Pretoria and was heavily engaged at Diamond Hill. Jarvis was commissioned in November 1903 and retired in November 1907.
