Driscoll's Scouts were raised at Aliwal North in March 1900 as a body of scouts some 65 strong. They were commanded by the exotic figure of Lieutenant-Colonel "Dan" Driscoll and raised to five Squadrons strength in December 1900. Continuously engaged during the Guerilla War, they were disbanded July 1902.
