Lot Essay

Private D.G. Dargan, an American from Boston, Massachusetts was issued with a unique combination of clasps - Elandslaagte and Wepener. He served in the Border Horse and Scottish Horse and his Medal was issued off the roll of the latter in 1902 in time for him to wear it at King Edward's Coronation. There are no indications on the roll as to why he should have been eligible for the 'Elandslaagte' clasp but the Medal and clasps are verified on the various rolls.
