Lot Essay

Major Neil MacGlashan was one of Rhodesia's earliest pioneers, arriving there in 1890. In civilian life a Mining Commissioner (Southern Rhodesia Civil Service List refers), he was an early and enthusiastic Volunteer Officer in the Rhodesia Horse. He played a prominent part in the quelling of the 1896 Rebellion and later commanded the Southern Rhodesia Volunteers during the Boer War.
