Private J. Murray was wounded at Doornkop on 29.5.1900. Doornkop, outside Johannesburg, was the site of Jameson's surrender in 1896 and where General Bruce-Hamilton had a tough fight with the Boer's last line of defence prior to the City's occupation on 31.5.1900. Private Murray was Mentioned in Despatches by Lord Roberts (London Gazette 8.2.1901 refers).
