Sold with three old photographs, comprising a portrait of the recipient as a young Merchant Navy Officer; a view of Isandhlwana from the East, by F.W. Baxter, with detailed caption, and the 'Dundee (Natal) School Cadets' on parade; together with the recipient's handwritten list of his Honours and Awards, a footnote stating, 'During the Boer War, I witnessed the charge of the 12th Lancers and saw the Earl of Airlie (Commanding) shot out of the saddle and killed. The 'Diamond Hill' bar on the Queen's Medal commemorates this'.

The Natal Telegraph Corps earned 38 '1906' clasps for the Bambata Rebellion.
