Trooper G.H. Saunders also served in the First City Volunteers, Marshall's Horse and the Field Intelligence Department. He had served with the Bulawayo Field Force in the Matabeleland Rebellion in Rhodesia in 1896. Along with six others he was accidentally wounded during the Rebellion in a dynamite explosion in Bulawayo on 2.10.1896.
