Captain George William Dawson was the Medical Officer of 'B' Division, South African Constabulary and a distinguished Irish Surgeon in later life. He graduated from universities in Dublin, London and Vienna and sailed for South Africa where he took up the appointment of Captain and Medical Officer in the S.A.C. on 21.7.1901. He resigned in January 1903 and returned to the United Kingdom to pursue a successful medical career (further details in Who's Who 1937).
