A Boer War Nursing Sister's Instrument Wallet
A fine and extremely rare wallet, in black Morocco leather, bearing the cypher of Queen Alexandra in gold tooling and inscribed, also in gold, "The Nation's Gift" South Africa, Christmas 1901, complete with its full set of nursing instruments including scissors, case thermometer, needle, tweezers, etc., in its original red cardboard box by W.H. Bailey & Son; together with a contemporary photograph of a nurse in uniform wearing a wallet of similar type clipped to her belt
