Constable Julius Charles Edward Brod was a German who served as a Trooper in the Bushveldt Carbineers from 7.5.1901 to 12.11.1901. Born in Bremerhaven, he served in the Cape Mounted Rifles for three years before the War and in the Border Horse in 1900. His attestation form for the B.V.C. states that he had the scars of a wound on the left side of his head. He was a Constable in the Natal Police during the Bambata Rebellion, subsequently joined the Water Police and died while still serving in 1907 at Durban.
