Private Charles Blackman served in the Royal Munster Fusiliers for 12 years before taking his discharge and becoming a brickmaker and member of the 1st Volunteer Battalion, West Yorkshire Regiment. He served in South Africa from the end of February 1900 to May 1901.

Private Sydney Blackman was killed in action in France and Flanders on 25.9.1916, while serving in the 1st Battalion, East Yorkshire Regiment.
